Miia Turpeinen

Prof. Miia Turpeinen Finland

Miia Turpeinen is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Oulu, Finland, and Senior Medical Officer at the Oulu University Hospital. She has MD (2004) and PhD degrees (2006) and she holds a specialist degree in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics (2013). She also has special competences in medical education and pharmaceutical medicine, both awarded by the Finnish Medical Association and she is a EUROTOX registered toxicologist.

Dr. Turpeinen was a post-doctoral fellow at the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch-Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Germany (2007-2009). She has app. 100 original and review articles in scientific journals, mainly on various aspects of drug metabolism, development of in vitro methods for drug development and adverse drug reactions. Her current research activities are focused on pharmacovigilance and pharmacoeconomics.

Dr. Turpeinen has several responsibilities and active role in both scientific and administrative health policy forums in Finland and she is the head of the unit at the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment. She is the board member of The Finnish Society of Clinical Pharmacology (FSCP).
