Janne Backman

Janne T. Backman, MD, PhD is Professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Individual Medicine at Department of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. He is the current president elect of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT) and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of 17th EACPT Congress to be held in Helsinki in 2025.

In 2019, he was nominated as a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters for his merits in his scientific discipline. Dr. Backman’s research interests have focused on drug–drug interactions and other sources of individual variability in pharmacokinetics. He has published about 200 original articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and his H-index is 69 (Scopus, April 1, 2024).

Gerard Rongen

As a member of the board of the Dutch Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmacy and one of the organizers of the annual FIGON-Dutch Medicines Days, he regards as his mission to improve the synergy between the various Dutch scientific societies, public and commercial partners who are involved in development of new pharmaco-therapeutic strategies and optimization of current pharmacotherapy in terms of efficacy and safety.

Joaquín Sáez-Peñataro, MD. Clinical Pharmacologist based in Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Spain. Specialized in pharmacovigilance and vaccinovigilance. He is also part of the Advanced Therapies Committee and the Research Ethics Committee of the Hospital.

Julia Carolin Stingl

Julia is chair and director of the institute of clinical pharmacology at the university hospital of RWTH Aachen  since October 2019. As clinical pharmacologist she worked for seven years in drug regulation and research as vice president of the German drug regulatory authority, BfArM.

Pierre Marquet

France

Pierre MARQUET has been a Doctor of Medicine since 1986 and obtained a PhD in physiology in 1992. He became an associate professor of pharmacology in 1998 and a full professor in 2001 at the Faculty of Medicine of Limoges, France.

Annalisa Capuano

Italy

Annalisa Capuano is a Medical Doctor, Clinical Pharmacologist and Full Professor in Pharmacology. She is the Director of the Dept. of Experimental Medicine of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.

She is also in charge of the Campania Regional Centre for Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology (Naples, Italy) and she is Independent External Expert at the PRAC of the EMA.

Florian Naudet

Florian is a psychiatrist and meta-researcher. He’s currently teaching Therapeutics at Rennes 1 University, France. His research interests are evaluating and developing methodological solutions to assess treatments in patients, primarily but not exclusive in psychiatric research.

Thomas Griesbacher

Thomas Griesbacher studied Medicine at the University of Graz from 1979 till 1985 when he finished his M.D. After service at the Military Hospital in Vienna he worked in the Institute for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology of the Medical Faculty of the University of Graz. From 1987 till 1988 he was visiting scientist at the Parke-Davis Neuroscience Research Unit, Cambridge, UK.

After his return he continued to work at the Department of Pharmacology and in 1994 was acknowledged as Medical Specialist in Pharmacology and Toxicology by the Austrian Medical Association. In 1995 he became Lecturer in Pharmacology and in 1997 Associate Professor. In 2000 he spent one semester as locum tenens professor of Molecular Pharmacology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.

Since 2010 he is head of the Teaching Unit at the Chair of Pharmacology and co-chair of the Institutional Review Board of the Medical University of Graz. Since 2014 he is co-chair of the Medicines Evaluation Commission of the Austrian Health Service.

Caridad Pontes, MD PhD. Senior consultant at Clinical Pharmacology in Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, and Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Held a senior management position at the Catalan Health Service for 7 years, leading the medicines group.

Formerly worked in clinical research both in the pharmaceutical industry and in academia. European expert appointed by the Spanish regulatory agency (AEMPS) for supporting scientific advice at the EMA. Current President of the Catalan Society of Pharmacology.

Associate professor and head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of Faculty of Medicine, University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. Chairman of the Czech Society of Clinical Pharmacology and of the Section of Therapeutic drug monitoring of the Czech Society of Clinical Pharmacology.
