Professor Dinko Vitezić, MD, PhD is a specialist in Clinical Pharmacology employed at the University of Rijeka School of Medicine Rijeka, and the University Hospital Centre Rijeka, Croatia. He is conducting undergraduate courses in Clinical Pharmacology and participates in courses which are part of postgraduate studies at the School of Medicine in Rijeka (Clinical Pharmacology, Drug Poisoning and Neuropsychopharmacology) and also at the University of Zagreb, School of Medicine (Clinical Pharmacology) and at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry (Clinical Pharmacy; Individualized Therapy).

Professor Vitezić is the author of more then 60 publications in different medical journals, co-editor of a textbook Fundamentals of Clinical Pharmacology (first edition, in Croatian) and Clinical Pharmacology (second edition, in Croatian), author of texts in the field of clinical pharmacology published in several textbooks (25 different chapters). In the past 15 years, most of Dr. Vitezić’s research, teaching, clinical work and publications have been in the field of clinical pharmacology especially in assessing value of drugs, drugs reimbursement, pharmacoeconomics, medicine policy and clinical trials. He was invited speaker and also a member and chairman on several international and national conferences and meetings (160 published abstracts). Professor Vitezić is a president of the Croatian Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Croatian Medical Association and a president of the Section for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, president of the first five regional Congresses on Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. Further, he is a member of the Executive Committee of European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT).

He is serving as the Chairman of the Central Ethical Committee of the Republic of Croatia (for clinical drug trials). He was and is involved in the drug regulatory field as an expert for drugs (Drug Committee of the Ministry of Health and Croatian Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices) and he was a chairman and vice- chairman of the Drug Committee, Croatian Health Insurance Company, chairman of the Ethical Committee of the University of Rijeka Medical School. Further, he performed and he is still performing different duties such as: a member of the Managing Council of the Croatian National Insurance Institute, a member of the Managing Council of the University Orthopedic Hospital Lovran, a member of the Drug Committee of the University Hospital Centre Rijeka, a member of the Drug Committee of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the Committee for the new Medical Curriculum, organizing “Clinical Pharmacology” for medical students, a member of the Drug Law Committee of the Ministry of Health responsible for different acts in the field of drugs (GCP, bioequivalence, adverse drug reactions), a national counterpart for pharmaceutical strategy implemented (Pharmaceutical counterpart) for the World Health Organization, a member of the Editorial Board for the ISDB journal “Pharmaca”. As a local expert he was involved in the reform of the pharmaceutical sector in the World Bank.
