Sir Michael Rawlins MD, PhD. held various senior positions, including a research fellowship at the Karolinska Institute, before becoming the Ruth and Lionel Jacobson professor of clinical pharmacology at the University of Newcastle. Actively involved in national pharmacology and safety committees. Rawlins also chaired the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), and later served as chair of UK Biobank and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). He also played a key role in establishing the all-party parliamentary group for Huntington’s disease.
