After three preclinical years at RCSI, Dublin, Ireland, and three clinical years at University of Oslo, she graduated as MD in 1986 from the Medical Faculty, University of Oslo, Norway.

She gained a PhD in 1996 in Basic Cardiovascular Pharmacology from the Institute of Pharmacology, Medical Faculty, University of Oslo and Ullevål University Hospital. She then trained as a specialist in Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Pharmacology at Ullevål University Hospital, Oslo, becoming an approved specialist in Clinical Pharmacology from 2002.

During 2003-2008, she was a Senior Consultant in Clinical Pharmacology at The Division of Forensic Toxicology and Drug Abuse at The Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Oslo, Norway.

From 2008, she has been a Senior Consultant in Clinical Pharmacology at Section of Clinical Pharmacology, Ullevål University Hospital. She was the unit leader at Section of Clinical Pharmacology, Ullevål, Department of Pharmacology, Oslo University Hospital (OUS), from 2010-2013, and section leader in Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology, OUS, from 2013-2014. She also led The Network in Clinical Pharmacology between Hospital Laboratories in Health Region South East in Norway from 2008 to 2014. 

Since 2014, she has held a combined position as Senior Consultant and Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology at Department of Pharmacology, OUS, and at the Institute of Pharmacology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Medical Faculty, University of Oslo, see OUH – Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (ous-research.no). Her research work is applied clinical pharmacology of cardiovascular drugs and some minor methadone projects. She has lectured medical students and been part of the Exam Committee since 2010.

Since 2012, she has been a delegate to EACPT for The Norwegian Society of Clinical Pharmacology, The Norwegian Medical Association.
