2003

In 2003, the VI EACPT Congress was held in Istanbul. Despite concerns related to the war in neighbouring Iraq, which had begun only three months earlier, the Congress welcomed more than 700 delegates.

At this meeting, additional countries joined the Association, bringing total membership to 32 countries within the EACPT family.

The Istanbul Congress also marked an important moment of renewal for the Executive Committee. As many Council delegates had completed the maximum two terms of four years each permitted under the Statutes, a substantially renewed leadership team was elected.

The new officers were Prof. Michael Orme (UK) as Chairman, Prof. Ingolf Cascorbi (Germany) as Treasurer, Prof. Nicholas Moore (France) as Vice-Chairman, and Prof. John Cockcroft (UK) as Honorary Secretary. At this meeting, additional countries joined the Association, bringing total membership to 32 countries within the EACPT family.
