After the success of the inaugural Congress in Paris, the EACPT continued to grow with another highly successful Congress held in Berlin in 1997, organised by Prof. Ivar Roots and colleagues.
This was followed by a smaller Congress in Jerusalem in 1999, organised by Prof. Micha Levy and his team. The reduced scale of this meeting was intended to avoid overlap with the larger IUPHAR (CPT) and EACPT-sponsored Congress to be held in Florence in 2000.
During the Jerusalem meeting, a new Executive Committee was elected by the Council, which by then included delegates from 29 European countries. Among the key changes was the appointment of Prof. Giampaolo Velo as Chairman and Prof. Kim Brøsen (Denmark) as Vice-Chairman.
