The first EACPT Congress was held in Paris in 1995 and represented a major milestone in the history of the Association.
At this Congress, a formal constitution was agreed by the Council, composed of representative delegates from all participating countries. The Council elected the first Executive Committee, with Prof. Folke Sjöqvist as Chairman, Prof. Michael Orme (UK) as Honorary Secretary, Prof. Jochen Kuhlmann (Germany) as Treasurer, and Prof. Giampaolo Velo (Italy) as Vice-Chairman.
At that stage, EACPT included 26 European countries through their national Clinical Pharmacology societies or sections.
The Paris Congress was organised by Prof. Georges Cheymol and colleagues and was both a scientific and social success, attracting more than 1,000 delegates.
