Ylva Böttiger graduated from Linköping University in 1991, and got a resident position in clinical pharmacology at Huddinge University Hospital in 1994. She finished her specialist training in 2000, and also defended her PhD thesis on “Metabolic Drug Interactions in Man” in the same year, followed by a two-year post-doctoral scholarship, sponsored by the National Network in Drug Development within the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. During this period, she was also scientific secretary to the Karolinska Institutet research ethics committee. In 2003, she was appointed senior consultant at the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Karolinska University Hospital, head of the Karolinska Drug Information Centre and director of studies of Clinical Pharmacology within the Karolinska Institutet. In 2014, she was appointed professor in clinical pharmacology at the Department of Medical and Health Sciences, Division of Drug Research, Linköping University.

Ylva Böttiger held the chair of the Swedish Society for Clinical Pharmacology in 2006-2012. She is the present chair of the Drug Committee of the Swedish Society of Medicine, and was appointed to the board of the Swedish Society of Medicine in the beginning of 2011. She is also a medical editor at Läkartidningen (the medical journal of the Swedish Medical Association).

Ylva Böttiger’s research activity has been focused on drug-drug interactions and decision support systems, including the development of the drug interaction database SFINX, antiretroviral therapy and drug treatment in children. She has published about 40 original articles, and approximately 90 reviews, comments and editorials, mainly in Läkartidningen.
